Artistic Lineage

Pradyumna Soraba is a versatile new-age artist in the world of Indian classical and contemporary styles of music. Born into a family of successful musicians, he developed keen interest and early aptitude for playing the Tabla. Both his father and grandfather have had a deep connect with music, with his father S.R. Gopalakrishnachar being a tabla artist himself and his grandfather being a distinguished artist of Harikatha, a collective art form of traditional story-narration about Hindu philosophy & mythology, presented through poetic singing, music, melody and dance-drama.

Love and passion for music came naturally to Pradyumna during his early years of childhood. Inspired by his father, he ventured into the field of percussion music at the tender age of 6. At the age of 9 , he started formal training of tabla in the Delhi Gharana style, under the tutelage of the great tabla legend, Pt. Ravindra Yavagal.
